$treet $mart Oscar Gonzalez

The inspirations for this shoot were entirely based off of the awe-inspiring graffiti murals of graffiti mogul Max Meano, who is based out of the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. I came across a rising star for the expanding artist community in the Lehigh Valley. The Cigar Factory is a unique space housing artists studios.  Within this building is the Alternative Gallery, a place where artists with truly unique and unhindered visions can display their work. Incredibly talented Graffiti Artist, Max Meano has adorned many of the walls of the gallery with his sprawling murals flooded with color, pattern, text and imagery that incorporate both traditional and modern graffiti styles.

The murals bring the space to life, and create an atmosphere all its own.  I was so inspired by Max's artistry that I devised a plan to create an editorial based off of the murals, where garments were both custom designed and pulled which would allow skilled model Oscar Gonzalez of (MMA / Model Management Agency), to appear to disappear into the art and become a part of it. Fusing the two dimensional with the three dimensional world, and art with fashion, to create LIVING art.

Custom clothing was designed and created by fashion designer Loretta Cabinda in order to help create cohesion between the murals and model.  Hand made garments by designer Kapinga Bashala, owner of Kapy Bash Mode, were meticulously selected.  In addition, several items were also altered and hand painted by myself with the same goal in mind.  Skillful hair and makeup artists Kayla Wilson and Joe Yarka helped to animate the model by styling his hair in hues relating to each mural and highlighting his skin with oil to make him almost plastic in appearance.

Jeff lit the scenes with precision, adding strategically placed colored gels to help create the illusion and bring the vision to life. He also staged two scenes with long exposure and light painting to bring the murals to life. He edited the photos boldly, enhancing the tones and vibrancy while keeping the colors true to the art.
